+ WEDNESDAY NETCORDS: Who told Fed to work cap sleeves (not cute)?

* Joel Drucker, who's been covering Indian Wells since 2001, provides a intriguing timeline of happenings and interviews surrounding the decision by Venus + Serena Williams to boycott the tourney. After reading it I only have one thing to say: see what you started Lena? [ESPN]

* Remember that supposed moment of tennis giving back by the ATP World Tour? More like "tennis talking smack". It seems the execs may be pulling the old "robbing Peter to pay Paul" scheme by offering tourneys a return since no Tour-wide sponsor has been secured yet. If a tourney opts for the rebate now, they won't receive monies once a global sponsor is signed. Damn you ATP...damn you! *raises fists of fury* [Doug's Sports Dish]

* Steve Tignor gives his previews + predictions for the BNP Paribas Open boy's and ladies' draws, choosing Rafael Nadal + Dinara Safina as champs and ending the men's preview by saying "you bet against Rafa at your peril these days." Good thing our boy Van wasn't listening! [TENNIS]

  1. I find this to be more intriguing than Drucker's piece along with the rest of it that is posted.

  2. R. Williams is a cheating scum who plays the race card cleverly according his agenda.

  3. By the way Rich, I'm not trying to start a heated discussion. My stance is pretty well known at this point. I just want those that haven't seen the match to watch it and put themselves in their (specifically 19 year old Serena) position and assess how they would honestly feel about Indian Wells.

I don't think it's the fans, but more to the fact that the tournament did nothing to quell that situation for a professional player at their event.

  4. Pamela: No worries - I actually don't mind a little heat in the DtL kitchen as you know!

  5. Ugh, I'm tired of every story from Indian Wells being about the Williams sister. They get more publicity when they don't play then when they do.

I've been to IW before and it's a great tournament with great fans.

    And HEY RICH!!!! :waves:

  6. Why is everyone still holding on to this IW thing when its been over 8 years already? The sisters don't want to play there, they have made their stand very clear on that.I think its high time the world of tennis moves on.

For heavens sakes Serena and Venus were only 19 and 20 back then. And if anyone thinks like Dementieva that Richard fixed their matches why would was Venus up 4-1 in their head-to-head? And y'all know how ReRe hates to lose.U think she'd have agreed to the deal?

  8. I finally got around to watching Serena's full interview with Jimmy Fallon. Did she seriously say that she considers herself "culturized"?

At that moment I was embarassed for her but now I can't stop laughing.
