Thanks to DtL reader Courtney for the link to this image of Roger Federer and his new shorter 'do.
Gone are his lovely locks which have been replaced by a much more clean + classic cut. It's much shorter now on the sides and back than it's been for while.
On a side note it seems Regal Rog is also sporting some fancy new Nike checked shorts - they don't look exactly like the Long Checked Short supposedly set aside for Rafa but something else.
Could it be another Aussie switch-a-roo from the sports brand? Ugh.
Anyway, what do you guys think of this new look?
DO TELL!

I LOVE IT!He looks ten years younger! So boyish look.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, just couple of more hours, and it begins!I can't wait! It's gonna be 1 am in my country, although I'm going on trip early tomorrow, I'm still gonna be awake when it starts! It'll be two great weeks!
OOOOH I do NOT like this look on him. He looks too teenage jock or something. Grow it out.
ReplyDeleteFlove it.
ReplyDeleteNooo! Not good! Why would he do that? Roger = long curls. Period. How does he want to do his "Thing with the hair" (You know what I mean) now? Lol...
ReplyDeleteI hope he didn't pay $800 bucks again, though...lol
He should go crew cut and no undergarments: one man commando to get back #1 position!
ReplyDeletewow, @ I.G. that's a comment from another blog, are you a copy cat?!? *joking, don't get insulted*
ReplyDeletemaybe Rafa should go no undergarments, I mean yeah Rafa definetly should go no undergarments.
Ressa - Rafa should just go 'no garments', let's face it.
ReplyDeleteThe shorts and the hair do make
Roger looks a lot younger and the shorts especially are miles away from his usual smart numbers. I wonder if he's feeling his age suddenly? He's no way the oldest player on tour, yet he has a very 'senior' sort of image - sensible, formal and grown up.
Ressa! I mean Tessa. Ooopsie.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh...I loved his previous haircut more. The curls looked great on him. I'll reserve my comments until after I see him playing, but still I feel like he's trying too hard.
ReplyDeleteJust as soon as Rafa trimmed his hair to resemble Federer's (length that's uncontrollable by the headband, jumping out all the time), here comes Federer and gets shorn even shorter.
ReplyDeleteNot a good cut for him, his angular face too revealed now, chin looks even longer, cheeks pudgy, eyes tiny. Curls softened all of that.
True, he does try a bit too hard and feels his age (see shorts). A pity.
In my opinion he looks just the age he is and it certainly looks fresh and new (believe that was the initial intention here).
ReplyDeleteI wonder how long it is gonna take for all the other to copy him, just like they did with the hairband....
LOL at anon1:48's headband comment. Couldn't you argue that Fed copied someone like, say, Carlos Moya?? He's been rockin' that for YEARS. Please.
ReplyDeleteanon 1:48 my thoguhts exactly!
ReplyDeletehe's nowhere near being old, for gods sake.he's 27 and that is wonderful young age, and he can still do whatever the hell he wants with his looks, especially having great body, being tall and muscular, and having cute enough face.He looks just great, young, fresh and energetic!
Like I said: too little hair, too much chin & cheeks, too small eyes:

well, 100 people 100 opinions!i bet he feels good in his own skin, and that's the most important!
ReplyDeletequalified yes to the hair. like tommy haas, he looks better with short hair - but it makes him look boyish, which could be a good or bad thing.
ReplyDeletemaybe now he won't have to shake his hair every 3 minutes.
ReplyDeleteIt makes him look more severe - angular like was said before.
ReplyDeleteThe lovely locks softened his look. But maybe he's totally hating it right now and is waiting for it to grow out a bit.
I know when I get my 'do cut (and my locks are def not as lovely) I'm never happy with it right away. It usually looks much better after a week or two.
I bet he planned it this way: Fed says to Fed, "I'll get my haircut right before and when I step onto the podium to accept my trophy, it'll be just perf."
He's such a planner.
His new cut reminded me of his hair during teenage when he won junior wimbledon. I think It will be okay once it grows out a little. Speaking of hairy situations, i think Djokovic has one too. Some seriously thick bush on his head at the moment.
ReplyDeleteRoger looks hot; I really liked the old look too though.
ReplyDeleteRafa was getting too much attention probably for his liking.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Roger, but not of this new haircut. I don't like "boyish" looks and I LOVED the curls. He looks like every other American teenage boy at the moment. I'll just close my eyes until it's had a few weeks/months to grow out... sigh.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like he's wearing boxer shorts haha. And looks like he's 15.
ReplyDeleteLook.
I wonder if he is also saying goodbye to the headband now? He wasnt even wearing a cap during practice, so I wonder if Fed was trying to get use to the no-headband life.
ReplyDeleteI gotta admit he looks younger (actually he looks his age now, I thought he looked older than 26/27 before).
ReplyDeleteBut I really don't like the haircut anyway. The rest of his locks on the top of his head kinda got all outta control there. It's so 80s. LOL
I think it'll look better after one or two weeks though. Totally Rich - such a planner! ;-)
I think it's okay. But I'm glad for a change - Roger was in a bit of a rut.
