PHOTO OP: Kuznetsova's hairy situation
Maria Sharapova showed a photo of herself with short locks over on Facebook and the tennis world went cray. Then we found out it was a wig.
Svetlana Kuznetsova showed up at the FED CUP presser in Moscow today wearing this hairy situation on her head. Then we found out it's REAL.
So...Alexandr. Give Sveta her hair back.

Mannarino's hairy situation needs managing - stat!
Yes ladies, gentlemen and those in between. This is the baller who beat Juan Martin del Potro 7-6(3), 7-6(7) at Queen's Club today. His name is Adrian Mannarino, a Frenchie who sits at 54th in the rankings, and he's got a hairy situation like no other.
I mean, how could the Argentine lose to someone whose hair role model is obviously Michael Myers?? Fine, it was great win for Manna but if he's going to deplete the Delpo HAWTNESS of a tourney like Queen's Club he should tame that whispy helmet and give us something pretty to look at. Or use conditioner. For the love.
More proof of Manna's hairy situation after the jump. And, remember: YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

PHOTO OP: Murray's hairy situation - REVISITED
In the world of Down the Line! Andy Murray's slump-stopping opening round win at the Monte Carlo Masters in Monaco was a mixed bag. Why, you ask? Let me 'splain.
Of course we should celebrate his 6-1, 6-4 win over an always tricky Radek Stepanek. It was the first set, let alone match, he grabbed since the Australian Open semifinals back in January. I'm sure he was feeling an enormous amount of pressure just to grab the first set especially against someone as seasoned as The Worm. Can you imagine the uproar if he dropped this match, too? He would've needed an armed guard just for the British press alone. But, alas, he ran it out in straights. Next up: Gilles Simon. Another tough, but winnable, one for him.
Now here's where the mixed part comes into play: Muzz has got a hairy situation going on and it's not the first time as many of you know. But WHYYYYY???? Back in 2007 we were just really getting to know the Brit baller and his penchant for Sideshow Bob stylings. He was one of the tour's worst offenders:
In February 2008 Muzz decided enough was enough. He visited a salon and chopped off the unruly locks. He even brought a camera along to document his metamorphosis:
Not bad, eh? Yet here we are again. Now it's not at the 2007 level yet but it's quickly growing in that direction. Is this phase a regression? Hopefully, if it is, it's in hair only. On second thought, scratch that. His hair, like his game, needs an update. For the love of GAWD.

SIGHTING: Brooklyn Decker's new 'do
Tennis WAG Brooklyn Decker was spotted in Miami with a new shaggy bob courtesy of celebrity stylist Ted Gibson. The model/actress is in town to cheer on hubby Andy Roddick during the defense of his Sony Ericsson Open title.
Love. It. Oh yeah, I asked out loud what A-Rod thought of his wife's new 'do over Twitter. I'll get back to you when he gets back to me. *wishful tweeting*

(UPDATED) PHOTO OP: Verdasco's hairy situation
![]() |
"Hair gel. That is all." |
Fernando Verdasco fell to his knees after coming back from 2 sets down and 1-4 down in the decider to defeat compatriot David Ferrer 5-7, 6-7(8), 6-3, 6-3, 7-6 (4) to reach the US Open quarterfinals. He'll face top seed Rafael Nadal for a spot in the final four.
So there's been a lot of talk on Twitter about the Spanish chorizo's hairy situation and whether he should shear his long locks. After seeing this photo is there really any more discussion needed? I mean, seriously?
UPDATE: In case you missed it, here's Fer's incredible shot on MP. *gets chills*

PHOTO OP: A-Rod's latest hairy situation - was it worth it?
I've been trying to take a break from tennis since suffering from tired fingers + fried brain after the long haul that began on the clay of Monte Carlo, and as you can see from my actual posts this week my efforts have been a complete and total SUCCESS. I mean, it would be great to be fresh for the North American hard-court swing and the U.S. Open.
So here's another reason why I unbroke my break: Andy Roddick's latest hairy situation. Apparently he and wifey, Brooklyn, spent the Fourth of July weekend at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and got a little crazy with the clippers. But what happened in Vegas didn't stay in Vegas so we have the proof.
Now A-Rod's no stranger to the pitfalls of a hairy situation but me thinks this one isn't nearly as bad. I'm sure he was looking for a fresh start after his Wimbledon fail.
What do you guys think - LOVE IT or LEAVE IT?

PHOTO OP: Jo-Willy's hair piece needs an update, like stat
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga flashed his trim, sexy tummy during his 6-3, 6-2 opening round win over Czech Jan Hajek in Barcelona. The third seed will next face Nicolas Almagro for a spot in the quarterfinals.
I'm happy that Jo-Willy has nothing even close to an MBB on his bod - thank GAWD for small favors. But what's going on with his 'do? It looks like an interchangeable, snap on hair piece. If that's the case I think he should go on court with this number:

I think it's PERFECT for the glitz + glamour of a U.S. Open match under the lights. Or disco theme night on American Idol. Whichevah.
Imagine the possibilities...

QUOTE OF THE DAY: FELI
- Feliciano Lopez on cutting his lovely locks
Ah-ha! You see? Only good things can come from resolving a hairy situation even if it means growing it on your mug instead.
Lesson learned.

PHOTO OP: La Monf (finally) arrives in Kuala Lumpur, hairy situation in tow
Gael Monfils took the "scenic" route to Kuala Lumpur but still managed to grab an opening round win.
The Frenchie, who won his first title in four years at Metz last weekend, defeated Denis Istomin 7-6(3), 7-6(2) after arriving at his hotel at 9am in the morning. After winning the title on Sunday he had rented a car in Metz to get to his home in Geneva since there were no flights available and arrived at 3am. Then, he took a flight to Paris on Tuesday to catch another flight leaving for Kuala Lumpur arriving this morning. He only had an hour at the hotel before leaving for his 10am practice. Phew.
Great effort La Monf, but a thumbs WAY down on the hairy situation. Seriously, when did you find the time to get your hair done?
Anyway, I hope you don't think you can hide that mess - unless it came with the hat. Then, you're excused.

VIDEO VAULT: Kimmie wins, coach loses...his hair
Never bet again Kim Clijsters because you'll lose.
Coach Wim Fissette promised to shave his head if the Belgian lady baller won the US Open.
Well, she did. And then, he did.

PHOTO OP: JJ beaten by The Shvedor - is a hairy situation to blame?
Jelena Jankovic became the second consecutive top seed casualty on Arthur Ashe during second round play at the US Open today.
The Serb was all out of sorts getting out hit and out run by Yaroslava Shvedova during her 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-7 (8) defeat. Unfortunately she'll be taking a big hit in the rankings since she made the final last year. Her match followed Elena Dementieva's shock loss to Melanie Oudin earlier this afternoon.
According to tennis scribe Doug Robson's tweet after the loss, the WTA mentioned JJ's maternal grandmother passed away last night which could explain some of her play today. So sad and thoughts go out to her.
But I wonder if another reason is the hairy situation she wore? Please see Exhibits A-D and you decide.

PHOTO OP: Nando's come along way baby...his hair that is
Egads! It seems Fernando Verdasco may have always worked a hairy situation.
So I take everything back that I've EVAH said about Nando's faux-hawk. Well, almost everything. It's still a tired 'do but the "style" on the left is just atrocious.
Hair can really make or break the man, I've always said. I guess blonds DON'T have more fun when they look like that though.
Thanks FEDEX!

PHOTO OP: Farewell faux-hawk!
You always hope someone FINALLY gets some sense but you never really know.
Fernando Verdasco did himself and the world a HUGE favor by retiring his fave faux-hawk. The Spanish baller showcased this softer side (and some thick + wavy locks) during his dismantling of homeboy James Ward 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round Wimbledon.
It feels like the first time all over again, Nando.

(UPDATED) VIDEO VAULT: Rafa practices with Nando, cuts the lovely locks
Rafael Nadal + Fernando Verdasco came together for a practice session at the "Magic Box" venue in preparation for the Madrid Masters 1000 tourney next week.
So the Rafalocks are def shorter. Personally, I think it was time for him to get a cut.
DO TELL!

UPDATE: Check out Nadal News for more shots of Rafa at the practice session with his newly-cropped 'do!

PHOTO OP: Is it the dress, the hair, or the bike chain that's all wrong?
Maria Sharapova is diving full-force into the glamorous Hollywood life.
The 3-time Grand Slammer, who is in midst of planning some major TV projects, was the guest of honor at a dinner thrown by fashion partner Cole Haan at the Chateau Marmont in LA.
Shrieka was joined by a bevy of celebs including actors Josh Hartnett, Jason Lewis, Kerry Washington, and Lily Collins.
Clearly she's been having some hairy situations as of late but even her fashion here is questionable. Is that dress being held together by tape? Plus, I don't know even know how she's standing up under the weight of that bike chain around her neck. Ick.
Here's my advice: GET THE FUCK OUT OF HOLLYWOOD.
See more images from the dinner here.

PHOTO OP: Diego goes down but hair blows up in Miami
Diego Junquiera was absolutely overwhelmed by a crotch-fondling Andy Roddick 6-1, 6-1 during their second round match in Miami. The match lasted all of 56 minutes - ouch.
Note to Diego: Sideshow Bob called and he'd like his hairy situation back. Ahora.

PHOTO OP: Whose situation is hairier?
Andy Roddick was spotted at his Macy's Dadeland meet-and-greet at the Lacoste shop yesterday working another, albeit old-school, hairy situation.
It so reminded me of the hideousness that is Fernando Verdasco's hairstyle right now.
So whose situation is hairier: A-Rod or Nando?

PHOTO OP: Hair today, gone tomorrow - so it is with Carla
A newly-cropped Carla Suarez Navarro (left) may have been on her favored clay in Acapulco but it didn't help much. The Spaniard fell to Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 6-4, 7-5 in the tourney's second round.
So if I remember correctly, a few of you felt Carla was bordering on a hairy situation at the Aussie Open (right) and I won't argue there. I mean, her hair had a life of its own and almost made the main draw too. But I'm not sure I'm feeling the new 'do either. There MUST be a middle ground people.
What do you guys think?
