(UPDATED) FASHION FIX: First look at JJ's new on-court fashion in Hong Kong - which brand is it?

Here's a first look at top lady baller Jelena Jankovic and the new on-court fashion she's working at the JB Group Classic in Hong Kong. She paired up with Portuguese shrieker Michelle Larcher de Brito for some doubles action at the tourney today.

The rumor mill was buzzing after the slidin' Serb left Reebok recently and no announcement was made about her new sponsor.

Does anyone have an idea what brand JJ's wearing here?

UPDATE: Thanks to an anonymous commenter who wrote, "There are people saying it's LiNing..". So being the dutiful blogger I am, I did some research and, voila! It IS a Chinese brand called Li Ning and they have a pretty cool looking website though I can't read a lick of it (watch it.)

Here's more from another anonymous reader on the brand:

Li Ning is a Chinese brand, owned by a former Chinese world-record 400m runner of the same name. That's the guy who lit up the Olympic torch in Beijing while suspended high up above the stadium.

The brand is becoming huge, they've dressed several complete national teams during the Olympics (Spain comes to mind: red official suits for the opening ceremony and white track suits, plus various gears for all sports).

Remember when Rafa's bags got lost in flight at the beginning of the Olympics, so for the first couple of days he practiced in those yummy low-slung rainbow bermudas and white tee with tacky gold lettering? That was Li Ning (he borrowed those). Also, he wore their white track suit on the podium for his gold medal award.

JJ's outfit is not a dress, but very short shorts and baby-dollish top with criss-crossed back straps.

I wonder if this move to Li Ning is temporary and just for the JB Group Classic or it's a true sponsorship?

  1. 1st glance is Lacoste, but it's definitely not that. Oh god - don't tell me she signed up with some generic brand - Reebok was horrid enough! Kinda like this dress though.

  2. I'm pretty sure that's Lacoste.

  3. I heard JJ was going to sign with them but this doesn't look like the croc that's usually their logo.

Is it a new evolution of their brand logo?

  4. Not to sound like a huge nerd, but isn't Lacoste's cro on the other side of the garment? Maybe not...

JJ looks bad ass in black, btw.

  5. johanne: that too - it's usually on the left side of the shirt or dress.

agreed she looks pretty hot in black - not to mention the super tan here.

That's what I thought too. And the croc looks lopsided, if it is the croc. I don't think it's lacoste, unless it's a new version of the logo.

Yes, love the black on her! She looks goooooooood. Having a girl crush here.

  8. Love the black, but, um...in 90+F it ain't gonna been the most cooling outfit. Hopefully it's for night matches.

  14. My bad then. It looked a lot like Lacoste's croc sign from the pic but yeah Lacroste's sign is on the other side. It's a nice outfit no less.

  17. you can select english at the bottom of the li-ning website. their motto sounds suspiciously familiar: "anything is possible."

  18. doesn't it look like Joma? At least that J seems like the one Feli sports.
LOL at the mustard bit, maybe that's it.

  19. While it could very well be Li Ning, he most definitely was NOT the 400m record holder. He was known as the "Prince of Gymnastics" in China & was the first Chinese gymnast ever to win a gold medal at the Olympics. He was, however, the guy who lit up the flame just this past August.

  20. i doubt if what she was wearing the li ning brand.

I hope jelena would choose a very established brand as her apparel sponsor since she is now the world number 1.

If indeed the rumors are true if she signed up with li ning, how come she is still wearing her reebok shoes?

Isn't it that if she signed up with li ning she has to wear the brand from head to toe.

I hope she signs up with lacoste or sergio tachinni or adidas.

i think adidas should sign her up. It's a good oppurtunity for adidas to have her as their endorser of all their products from head to toe.

Although, reebok is part of adidas but I think the two companies are disntict and different from each other.
