Team Ana has confirmed the Roland Garros champ will be working the adidas Aldilibria dress she debuted at the WTA Championships at next month's Aussie Open. The dress comes in two colorways: plum + tuquoise.
I know a lot of you guys weren't feeling this dress, but I still love the direction adidas is going here. Anything's better than the lady finger f-up from this summer.
I think we can ALL agree on that one.

LOVE the colors. Not crazy about the style of dress, but like you said, anything's an improvement over last year.
ReplyDeleteNow, the real question will be...will she be able to play like a champion (at least a FO champion), or will she go out with a whimper like she's been doing?
I actually really like this dress for Ana. The saturated colors are KEY but the shape works too. She looks great in this. Good luck down under!!
ReplyDeleteI like the purple. But haven't we seen her in turquoise too much already?
ReplyDeletenatch: we'll see on that one. she's got tons of motivation to do well since she was a finalist last year of course. if not, it'll be a big drop for ana.
ReplyDeletejohanne + VICKI: yup i'm all for jewel tones and brights for her but vicki has a point. she did wear the same color in oz last year. hopefully she'll stick with the plum but i'm wondering how it'll look against the blue that is drowning the aussie open right now...
I just don't get the dress. Why is there a line separating one boob making it look all wrinkly?
ReplyDeleteThe colors are nice but she wore the same color blue last year. I like the purple, red would have been great! Adidas needs to get more creative.

Rich: you've got a point about the background color. I think the plum would be a better choice then, esp since it's the newer color for her... and it would look OK against all that blue I think. If she wears the turquoise she might blend in!
ReplyDeleteLisa: I definitely like the idea of red for Ana. It would make her already gorgeous skin tone even more gorgeous :)
johanne: the turquoise wasn't so horrible when she wore it last season but yeah and different color would work better. how about something completely different - like a green of some sort, brighter in a jewel tone.
ReplyDeletelisa: she wore the red adidas dress when she won roland garros...

...and i didn't love it so much. it wasn't horrible but i didn't think it complimented her as well as the turquoise.
Rich: like a bright kelly green maybe? With white accents? I bet she could work that. BTW, totally spaced about her red outfit at the FO (although kinda looks more like a coral, huh?). Guess I only have eyes for Rafa, surprise surprise. Which, hello coincidence? He was wearing that bright green top and those hot grayish capris at both Queens and Roland Garros. LOVED that outfit on him. Mmmm. Oh sorry. Leave it to me to bring up Rafa. Again. :D
ReplyDeleteOMG! I didn't even THINK about the blue court! She really might disappear right in front of our eyes. That might be kinda fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteI have the same color skin as she does, and yep, jewel tones look great on us. :D But last year's color was all wrong for her. She needs a blue-red, not an orange-red. Kelly green? Also a great choice. (I'm wearing it right now. :))
ahmm, even though the dress is defo a step up from the lady-finger, this is still similar...with the unflattering below the hip 'insert band'/stitching and 'short' pleats.
ReplyDeletethe colours are great for Ana, but it still looks a little...off. she might need to accessorise...with Fernando!
i love the colors too. her turquoise dress is also similar to her australian open cyan edge dress earlier this year. i think green would also look good on ana. it may sound blasphemous here but looking at adidas' collection (including those of nole's) for the AO next year, they seem to be a little bit better than those of nike's. wasn't masha as involved as she was before in the styling of her outfits?
ReplyDeleteanon 8:58 - great point. it's like adidas has switched places with nike as far as design and inspiration. i'm curious to see if there event marketing increases right before majors. nike owns that right now but there's room for more and nike, at least design-wise, is slipping.
ReplyDeleteAnon 8:58: No I agree with you about Adidas vs. Nike. Adidas is a bit stronger, just bc Fed's gear is kind of a snoozefest and I haven't seen Rafa's new stuff on his bod (and happen to be a big fan of the image he created before with the muscle tees and capris, etc.) So we'll see I guess!
ReplyDeletegoodness, I hadn't thought about the blue courts. she'll totally dissapear! ha ha.
