Zheng Jie's giant-killing ways continued to amaze at Wimbledon today dismissing a resurgent Nicole Vaidisova 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 and becoming the first Chinese baller to make the final four of a Grand Slam and the first ladies' wild card to make the semifinals at The All England Club.
The next giant in line: Serena Williams.

Unbelievable that she's in the semi's. A great story for sure, and no shock about Nicole going out, but just...
ReplyDeleteunbelievable.
The women's draw is a complete yawn now.
yeah today felt a bit boring and the matches themselves were pretty low quality. hard to watch actually.
ReplyDeletefor me, it's all about the men - but isn't it always? haha...
I think Justine Henin will never forgive herself for waisting this opportunity of winning Wimbledon and making it Career Grand Slam... Too bad for her...I hope Zheng captures the title, because I don't like the rest of the semifinalists...
ReplyDeleteReally disappointed with Nicole's performance in the 3rd set.... down 4/1 in the third, you would think she would go all 'Nadal' like on us. Meaning, fight, scramble, throw in junk, anything to throw Zheng off her game. Instead, she just checked out of the match, but not before topping up her unforced errors.
ReplyDeleteThis was a real chance for her to get her motivation back, and have a shot at the title.
yeah not the most mentally tough girl out there - she got by on her talent for a while but now we'll see what she's really got.
ReplyDeleteI think Serena will beat Zheng Jie quite easily.
ReplyDeleteVenus has had a very easy route to the semi. If Zheng Jie had played Venus in an earlier round she may have beaten her. Venus has gotton away with some poor performances.
I doubt she makes it to the final, but Go Zheng!
ReplyDeleteIf both Williams are in the final, I'm sleeping in Saturday. It won't be worth watching.
For me, it's nice to see someone different in the latter stages, rather than the usual suspects. I'll be rooting for Zheng as I like her style of play but I can't really see past Serena for the win.
ReplyDeleteI think dementieva and venus will be a good match..serena will just blow over zheng...
