As my crystal (tennis) ball predicted, Maria "Shriek"apova will be working the Nike Paris Dress during her run towards a career Grand Slam at Roland Garros. According to Tennis Week:
The "Paris dress" by Nike is a 1920s-inspired design that reflects her dynamic sense of style. Designed in collaboration with the three-time Grand Slam champion, the performance Dri-Fit dress is dark obsidian blue with contrasting chalk white satin ribbons and double layered pleated skirt. The elegant, ultra-light creation is finished with a luminous Tiffany pearl button closure that fastens at the back of the dress.
The Russian glamourpuss will also be donning Tiffany designer Elsa Peretti’s Wave earrings in 18K gold. The partnership will last for the next two years and Maria will be showcasing Tiffany jewelry at all four Grand Slams.
Very glam, very Paris. Just don't lose them in the red dirt Maria (says the lucky ball girl...or boy).

Now Maria S. scrubs up quite nicely off court but these little dresses are SUCH a big mistake for someone who plays tennis with as much finesse as a navvy, is so lacking in elegant movement on court to go with her 'frocks', sweats so very profusely and has such bad skin on her face, back and shoulders. She should stick to much more flattering utilitarian outfits like the skirt and shirt she wore for the end of year tournament in Madrid in 2007.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. She thinks she's the next Audrey Hepburn. That 2006 US Open dress was horrible, and it didn't suit her figure at all.

ReplyDeleteyeah i really loved that lady-like look from the championships last year. it was feminine with interesting detailing but was trying too hard or over-the-top like the red dress from last year's us open. that was too much.
ReplyDeleteand the design on the white one for the day made her look like she had chest hair. not the best image for a modern russian woman!
oh yeah and what's with her face in this image? she looks like she smelled something awful...
