FASHION FIX: Lady baller looks from pre-Wimbledon party purple carpet

Here we go again. The lady ballers of the WTA tour attended the annual pre-Wimbledon party at the Kensington Rooftop Gardens in London last night with the usual mixed results (read: HOT, NOT AND WTF WERE THEY THINKING?!). Ahem.

Maria Sharapova looked incredibly chic in her red Alexander McQueen dress. The cut-outs on the shoulders are fucking brilliant. But what really pulled the whole look together were the stunning accessories including the gold collar, cuff and shoes by British accessories designer Lara Boinc and the clutch by McQueen. So delish.

More purple carpet looks with commentary (duh) after the jump!

Ana Ivanovic: I'm a bit torn on this one by Matthew Williamson. I think overall she looks fine (hair, makeup, dress) but there's something about the dress I don't like. It looks a bit stiff which is making NaturAna seem a bit stiff. And what's that stuff underneath the bust - flowers or fruit? Hmph.

Serena Williams: SHA-BAM! She's back in a big way. Love the Burberry, love the curves, LOVE IT ALL.

Caroline Wozniacki: This Stella McCartney could be interesting on a more dramatic personality - someone with outlandish hair, tattoos, interesting accessories. Sorry Sunshine, you're not that person. It's a style that needs to be worked; you can't just stand there like your covered arm is fused to your body. And the hair and shoes are just...no.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova: I'm kind of a big fan of what Nasty wears off-court including this David Koma. She likes to take risks but still keeps it youthful. Not a bad combo. Like the hair, just not on her.

Jelena Jankovic: When I heard JJ would be working Vivienne Westwood I was hoping for something more...er...Vivienne Westwood. I think she could totes pull off the Brit designer's stuff - frilly, fun, theatrical. Aside from the screaming red this choice is kinda fug. I'm def not liking the hair, either. P.S. - I'm SO hoping the Serb moves out of this red/pink/pepto phase stat. Thank GAWD for Wimby whites.

Li Na: Now here's an interesting choice by the Roland Garros champ. Like Nasty, the Chinese baller is another one who likes to take risks off-court and this Giles Deacon is no exception. It's almost like she's wearing an piece of art. The shoes are also pretty cool, though I wouldn't necessarily pair them with this particular dress. But what would I pair with this dress? Nasty's hair. Art + art.

Francesca Schiavone: I love that Fran doesn't try to do anything fashion-y. She wears what works for her and still looks stylish and comfortable. TAKE NOTES, LADIES.

Sabine Lisicki: Love the color on Lissie but overall it's a bit plain. She could've amped the look up with some great accessories in gold and a sexier shoe.

Sorana Cirstea: Here's another dress I a bit torn on. It has some interesting texture with the white peeping out from behind the black but it's just missing that one accessory to put it over the top.

Andrea Petkovic: I really want to see this Richard Nicoll but Petko's wearing that annoying black blazer over it. She's literally suffocating the style out of the dress; but from what I can see it's cute.  The shoes are a whole other story.

Alize Cornet: 'A' FOR EFFORT FRENCHIE!!!

Laura Robson + Anna Keothavong: Um, ladies. Word of advice: These dresses are great. FOR YOUR MOMS. When you're young it's okay to have fun with fashion. Really.

Bethanie Mattek-Sands: Speaking of fun with fashion...We finally got to see what Lady Gaga's designer cooked up for BMS. It's as outlandish as I thought it would be and then some. Expectations are never managed when it comes to her. That being said, it's weird to see her in a 'gown' but she's having fun with it so whatever. Uh, did I just say that???

  2. I agree with you on the 2 Brits. Too young to be wearing clothes like that. BMS - nothing more needs to be said. Not sold on the Pova look, especially the hair. She looks a bit undone and the make up makes her look a bit washed out. Loving ReRe's dress and I could kill for those shoes.

I don't know, but there is something about Ana's whole look that puts me in the mind of Carmen Miranda. Throw some flowers in her hair and she would look like she is ready to salsa. The too tight bun pulls her features so far back it makes her look a bit old for me. Some soft tendrils would have given her a softer look for the playful dress

  3. Omes: You should never feel sorry for making ball jokes. They're always appropriate on DtL. ALWAYS.

TennisAce: LOOOOL I was thinking the same thing about NaturAna and Carmen Miranda! The hair and the fruit or whatever the hell she's got growing under her rack. She rarely gets it completely right - there's always something that's off. But she's straight up gorge in every pic so I gotta give her that.

  4. Why are tennis players completely hopeless in their style choices? Maria, to me always gets it.

  5. I think what throws Ana off in most of the pics that I have seen is that she is not comfortable in front of the camera. I think behind all that natural beauty is someone who is incredibly insecure and it shows in her pics. Pova on the other hand was born for the camera. Girl loves the limelight (despite what she says). However, the camera unfortunately does not love her all that much as she tries too hard to look *I am laying here not caring too much*. She just cannot do that and she needs to get rid of that pout. Can you say done and done!!!!

As for Petkovic, that outfit is just plain FUGLY. I love funky shoes but not even I would wear that pair that she is wearing

  7. I'm not a fan of Ana's hair. I like it down when she is attending these kind of events. At first I hated the dress, but once I realized it made her boobs look bigger, I started liking it.

  8. Curtis: I have a feeling she's happy about that one, too. Bigger boobs are always win.
