FASHION FIX: Galina Voskoboeva in ellesse
So she got blitzed by Victoria Azarenka. Who hasn't been this week?
A tired Galina Voskoboeva was dismantled by the Belarussian bomber 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the Rogers Cup today. The 26-year old from Kazakhstan had a stellar week, though, upending the likes of Marion Bartoli, Flavia Pennetta and Maria Sharapova, someone she admits "cheering for" in the past (I can see Shrieka's reaction to that quote already, "And??"). Not bad for a qualifier ranked outside the Top 100.
She also looked pretty good working this ultra-fem white ellesse tank dress with black piping, a Peter Pan collar and frilly skirt. It certainly borders on being more of a cocktail number than something for the tennis court but it's the Italian brand's way. Besides, they've done a lot worse.
Speaking of worse, we should all be REALLY thankful Nadia Petrova didn't get a hold of this one. Double phew.

I wish the collar had been sewn down so that it didn't flop all over the place like it did. Also, the skirt looks better in that photo than it did when I watched her play Sharapova. I'm not crazy about the skirt but overall, I'd say I like the dress.
ReplyDelete@ Sara: It could be that rare case where a tennis dress actually would be better worn off-court than on, no? They've had some horrific designs recently (Hi Nads) but this one looks pretty good.
ReplyDeleteUgh...I can't think of anything I've ever liked from Ellesse...
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the mens US Open Addidas collection? Another disaster on the clothing front for Murray!
ReplyDeleteThe clothes wear Murray, he doesn't wear the clothes.
