Rafael Nadal was spotted on the green in Mallorca getting an early jump on his Easter weekend holiday accompanied by two unknown, yet super cute, friends (can anyone ID them?).
I'm not a huge fan of golf and less a fan of golf clothing but Rafa somehow makes these fashions look damn good, especially the khakis. Actually, it's probably no mystery how he does it.

I normally don't like golf at all, but with Rafa I ABSOLUTELY. LOVE. IT. And those khaki trousers. THOSE KHAKI TROUSERS!!! I mean, Rafa's LEGS and ARSE in those khaki trousers, is what I mean.

ReplyDeleteGuy in cart - Bartholome Salva-Vidal aka Tomeu, lowly ranked singles player, sometimes plays doubles with Rafa (they even won Chennai once), but more importantly, they are elementary-school buddies, grew up together in Mallorca.
ReplyDeleteDunno bout the other guy, probably from the same gang of friends. They all hang out on the beaches and go clubbing whenever Rafa is home. The only semi-famous one is Tomeu. As Rafa wrote in his blog, one is a painter, but not for paintings, he paints houses!

ReplyDeleteYes, the basement-dungeon club is his neighbourhood unglamorous watering hole called Bauxa.
ReplyDeleteGo to bauxa.net and click to IMATGES (gallery) - the patrons traditionally mug for the camera and the club posts their photos weekly. Rafa & his gang are fixtures over there (Rafa less so, being on the road so much, but whenever home, he's bound to surface there). Especially hillarious are theme-nights, New Year and carneval (Rafa came as Jack Sparrow in February).
Guys like tequila, drank it once from a footie cup they won locally.
Rafa is THE most unselfconscious celeb there is.

ReplyDeleteTomeu Salva and Rafa won the Junior Davis Cup/World championship for Spain way back but Tomeu took a long time to mature physically and never made it higher than the ATP 300s). He is Rafa's best friend (since the age of 7) and until this year he was playing challengers and always travelled with Rafa to the majors as hitting partner. But he is now a tennis coach in Manacor and last year was reported as having been seen helping Ana Ivanovic out with her training when she was on Mallorca by hitting with her.
