Richard GasGAY?

The DowntheLine! rumor mill is still buzzing with the speculation about Frenchie Richard Gasquet's sexuality. According to The Telegraph, the questions began at the Monte Carlo Masters in April where a reporter, inspired by an article in French mag Le Point, asked Richard about the rumors:

Q. This question has nothing to do with tennis. But did you see that in the magazine Le Point there was an article about Lagardere who denied the rumor about your relationship.

RG: I was absolutely not happy about that. This question has come back hundreds of times, and every time someone turns up saying, Oh, I have evidence. It is just bullshit. Neither him nor me are homosexuals. It's absolutely obvious.

Despite denying the allegations, numerous gay media outlets including Towleroad.com, OhLaLaParis.com, PerezHilton.com, and OutSports.com have all recently made references to his free-swinging ways.

The gays want their Martina, their Amelie - but is this a case of wishful thinking or does Richard need to step outside the lines?

  1. Clearly a case of protesting too much. It's about time one the men had the balls to "step outside the lines."

  2. I met Richard at the US Open last year and have to be honest, though it disappoints me, I didn't get the "feeling" from him at all. I'm sad to say I think he's a straighty...

  3. He's straight...seriuosly how can such a thing start? there's no decent proof,no?

Maybe they thought that Richard's sooo shy, instead of him attracting attention they gave him some (immensely awkward) situation to give him attention...awww he seems so nice let's just leave him alone, give him the good stuff.

  4. I think Richard is fueling the fire by his vehement denials, particulary when they're unprovoked:

In all honesty, I think Richard's likely straight but he doesn't help his cause by acting as if there's something wrong with being gay...unless he thinks there is.

  5. WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?

I am a gay man, but I don't go around telling everyone about it.

It's no one's business, and no one should really care.

    LEAVE THE MAN ALONE.

Straight men don't go around telling everyone they are straight.

He is a great tennis player, and for most of the world that is all he will ever be. To some lucky person he might some day be their lover or their husband or whatever.
It's NOT going to be YOU, so why should you even concern yourself?

LET HIM LIVE HIS OWN LIFE AND PLEASE US WITH HIS WONDERFUL TENNIS PLAYING ABILITY.
